FAQ

Common questions

What does Kurrb do?+

Kurrb is a voluntary Screen Time utility for iPhone. You choose the apps or app categories you want help with, choose a usage limit, and choose a short step reset goal. When your selected apps reach the usage limit, Kurrb starts a microbreak and pauses those selected apps. After you complete the step reset, the apps reopen.

What permissions does Kurrb need?+

Kurrb uses Apple’s Screen Time permission, also called Family Controls, so it can pause only the apps or categories you choose. Kurrb also uses Motion & Fitness permission to count steps for your reset. Notifications are optional and may be used to let you know when a microbreak starts.

Can Kurrb see what I do inside my apps?+

No. Kurrb uses Apple’s Screen Time APIs to shield selected apps at the system level. Kurrb does not read messages, browsing history, app content, or what you do inside selected apps. Apple provides opaque tokens for the apps or categories you choose.

Which apps can I choose?+

You can choose apps or categories through Apple’s Screen Time picker. Common examples include social media, video, browser, and entertainment apps. You stay in control of what Kurrb helps with.

Why does the app pause selected apps?+

Kurrb is designed as a small speed bump for scroll loops. The pause is temporary and based on the usage limit you set. The goal is to create a short reset before you continue, not to permanently block access.

How do step resets work?+

Kurrb reads step counts from your iPhone’s Motion & Fitness system. When you reach your selected step goal, Kurrb unlocks your selected apps. You do not need a separate tracker or extra hardware. Your iPhone needs to be with you while you move.

Do I need to walk outside?+

No. Indoor steps count too. The reset can be as simple as standing up and walking around your room. Kurrb is not a workout app; the steps are just a small reset before returning to your apps.

My steps are not updating. What should I do?+

Make sure Motion & Fitness is enabled for Kurrb in iOS Settings, and keep your iPhone with you while walking. If the count is still stuck, open Kurrb again, check that permissions are enabled, or contact support with your iPhone model and iOS version.

What if I need an app urgently?+

Kurrb is meant to help, not trap you. Free users can use skip or emergency unlock from the reset screen when available. Some stricter Kurrb Plus settings may reduce those escape options by choice, but the app is designed around user-controlled limits and temporary pauses.

Why does the Apple shield screen look simple?+

The shield screen is provided by Apple’s Screen Time system. Kurrb can customize limited parts of that screen, such as copy and appearance, but it cannot add a fully custom app screen or normal launch button inside the shield. You can open Kurrb manually, or through a notification if notifications are enabled, to complete your reset.

Is Kurrb free?+

Yes. Kurrb has a free version that lets you set up microbreaks and use the core app. Kurrb Plus is optional and adds deeper control, such as custom limits and stricter resets.

How do I restore Kurrb Plus?+

Open Kurrb, go to Profile or Settings, and tap Restore Purchases. Kurrb Plus purchases are handled through Apple’s in-app purchase system, with RevenueCat used to manage subscription status and restores.

How do I cancel or manage a subscription?+

Kurrb Plus subscriptions are managed through Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your Apple ID, tap Subscriptions, then choose Kurrb. From there, you can view, cancel, or manage your subscription.

Does deleting Kurrb cancel my subscription?+

No. Deleting an app does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription. To cancel Kurrb Plus, manage it through Apple Subscriptions in iOS Settings.

How do I delete my Kurrb data?+

Kurrb does not require an account. Your data is stored locally on your iPhone. Deleting the app removes local Kurrb app data from your device. If you have a Kurrb Plus subscription, manage or cancel it separately through Apple Subscriptions.

Is Kurrb available on Android?+

Not right now. Kurrb is built for iPhone using Apple’s Screen Time and Motion & Fitness systems.
